Dr Graham’s Homes in Kalimpong in north-east India is a co-educational school that has provided education and care to mainly impoverished and deprived Anglo-Indian children since 1900. The key role of the UK Committee is to provide an opportunity for these children, who often join the school at aged three or younger, to be educated and cared for at the Homes and hopefully go on to college and make their own way in the world. The Comittee do thisthrough the generous sponsorship of individual children by benefactors across the UK, who often provide additional funding for infrastructure projects at The Homes.
This film was shot in Calcutta (where many of the children come from) and Kalimpong in February 2012. The film aims to bring to life the journey of the children from disadvantaged circumstances into life-changing care and education at Dr Graham’s Homes thence on to a secure future, thereby giving existing and potential supporters a much better insight into the work of The Homes.
